In a first of it's kind tax implemented, the Australian retail store kogan.com has put up an extra 6.8% tax on folks using IE7 for their online shopping. It sounds hillarious but as per the Chief Executive of kogan, this tax is meant to recoup the cost and time spent for "rendering the website on an antique browser".
Though only 3% of company's customers use IE7, the total cost involved in making the interface properly dispayed on IE7, the company incurred a cost equal to the combined cost for Safari,Chrome and firefox. And that is why, the tax has been levied.
Meanwhile, IE11 is slated to release next year.
